All my drawings start without a fixed idea. I work intuitively, using automatic drawing to allow figures, animals, plants, shapes and fragments of imagined worlds to emerge on the paper.

I rarely know what story will come about while I am working on a drawing. Sometimes a story appears in the proces, mostly afterwards. But most of the time the image remains deliberately unexplained. Is it you who bring forth the stories in my drawings. For that reason I don’t think in series, although they are there. My series are never planned in advance, but emerge gradually when I notice that several drawings have begun to share a visual language or an idea.

Surrealism, esoteric dreams and a sense of the unseen naturally find their way into my drawing process. I am less interested in explaining what an image means than in creating a space where the viewer can discover something of their own.
